About Fanny:

I am a fire ecologist based in Belize, Central America, and I like to share my love and vision of fire through photography and videography. I have at heart to show people how to know fire and how to be a friend of fire. There is beauty and life where many see nothing or destruction.

Burning in Beautiful Belize

Project Vision:

Fire is not only about suppression and death. It is also about life and natural processes. With this project I wish to produce a 3-5 minute video that would depict the beauty of tropical fire ecology in Belize, telling the story of fire ecology in landscapes underrepresented in the fire community. I want to share my experience of following fire and fire effects in tropical ecosystems to communicate the subtle nuances of the face of fire. There is beauty in the fire path that firefighters and fire ecologists are lucky to see.

Previous Work:

Favorite thing about firefighting:

My favorite thing is to walk behind the fireline to observe the different behavior and their effects on the vegetation. There is beauty in the fire path that careful eyes can witness. I am always curious about what I would discover in a new fire and eager to go on the next treasure hunt.
